What is Photography

I think the basic definition of what photography is, is the recording of visual information which is then collected by various different methods, which allows the viewer to look upon this visual information after the moment it captures has gone.
I think what makes photography really powerful and also incredibly meaningful is the fact that the photographer is deciding that the viewer will see. What ever they include in their composition will make the viewer think in a certain way about it, although in saying this, everyone thinks differently about an image because none of our minds think the same. How we have been raised and what culture we are apart of also depicts how we might feel about a certain image.

When thinking about the question of 'What is Photography?' while trying to connect it to my project on waste, the answer would be: photography is a tool used to impact the viewer, through the medium of visual information, to make them think about our waste problem and to consider the environmental impact when they discard something.

Throughout my project I have developed my idea and photographic practise to end up with an image that hopefully stops the viewer and actually makes them think about what happens to their rubbish when its been thrown away.
